Newton Village Donates to Salvation Army

Newton Village, raised $500 for The Salvation Army to provide items needed for the food pantry. For several years, Newton Village and its tenants have been involved donating items to the food pantry. This year Newton Village decided to donate money so the items that are needed to help fill the need in the community could be purchased. New Skilled Nursing Facility Approved for Newton, IA
State regulators on Wednesday approved Newton Village’s request to build a $3.3 million, 24-bed skilled nursing facility at its complex just north of the downtown Newton area.
The State Health Facilities Council of the Iowa Department of Public Health approved Newton Village’s application for a Certificate of Need, a state finding required to be met before new nursing home facilities are allowed to be constructed.
Newton Village has been working with an architecture firm on preliminary plans for the new facility. The 24-bed facility is proposed to connect to the existing assisted living wing at the Newton Village facility at 110 N. 5th Ave. W. Construction is expected to begin next year.
