Welcome To Elim Care & Rehab Center - Princeton!
Person First Care Concept

Why are the staff and elders gathered in a circle
around the fireplace? Say, isn’t that Mrs. Johnson over there, folding the days’
laundry? Those fresh baked chocolate chip cookies smell great – can I have one?
These are all sights, smells and sounds that we are working hard to make part of
daily life at Elim. In 2006, we were one of 19 facilities awarded special
funding by the state for our innovative proposal on Person First Care. After
completing our building addition and remodeling in 2003 / 2004, we are now
taking the next logical steps in improving the quality of our elders’ lives.
This requires deep culture change, involving moving decision making from our
staff to our elders. Our journey toward Person First Care continues, moving from
what some may term a typical, hierarchical way of doing business to having the
daily life-decisions of our elders back to them, their families and their
caregivers! This is one of the first steps in creating HOME for them
while they reside here for their care needs. Elders, staff and elders’ families
will be trained in a variety of skill areas to more effectively operate be a
self-directed team, with the former managers (now called mentors) coming
alongside each household and helping them grow. We’re beginning to see the
results of this journey, recent family members noting Elim has changed over the
years, now being a place where their loved one’s life is extended so their
families can enjoy them! Want to be part of the process? We need your help to
make the transition smooth. Please give us a call today to understand how you
can be part of the process.
Facility Layout:
Our facility is divided into 7 households, each in which up to ~ 19 elders live. Most rooms are private, enabling elders to entertain their families either in their room or in our living rooms and commons spaces. All households have their own dining room and living room.
Rehabilitative Therapies
Occupational, physical and speech therapies strive to improve or maintain our residents abilities. Success is measured in two ways:
Spiritual Services
Our Chaplains provide compassionate pastoral service nurturing the work of God in residents', resident's family and our staff's lives. They listen, give prayerful counsel and Biblical instruction in addition to coordinating all spiritual activities.
Activities that add meaning to life .
Featuring unique and stimulating activities
- Shopping in our gift shop or dropping
by the coffee shop for a bite to eat, resident activities with
kids, and monthly trips to local restaurants to name just a few.
Adult Day Care
Designed for the caregiver who needs a break every now and then or for the person who needs companionship. Elim Oasis opened it' s doors at the Princeton Methodist Church in April of 2000. Oasis is an excellent alternative to long-term care for those elderly adults who need some care but do not require 24-hour nursing care. Approximately 25 participants come from 1 to 5 days per week for this rigorous, health care model.
Respite Care/Short Term Stays
Designed for the caregiver who needs an extended break, a 7 to 30 day stay is available in our nursing home.
Volunteer Opportunities
Why not consider serving in our coffee and gift shop, volunteering to help with Bingo, help our elders with baking activities or crafts or assist them in other ways? Volunteer opportunities are plentiful. And the best kept secret is, by volunteering, you serve our Lord and receive back much more than you can give. Email our administrator by clicking on his name below and we’ll help you choose from a variety of opportunities at either Elim, Caley House (our assisted living) or Elim Oasis (our adult day care).
