Meet the Department Heads
Executive Director
Brad Cole
Brad has been with Valley View since 2004 as the Executive Director. He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in Public Health and Business Management. He received his Iowa Nursing Home Administrator’s License in 1997. After serving as an administrator with three previous care centers, Brad then became certified in Assisted Living. Director of Nursing
Karen Pewick
Karen has been with Valley View for 18 years and has been the Director of Nursing for the past 14 years. She is a Registered Nurse and received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Mercy College in 2005. Chaplain
Craig Burton
Craig is an ordained minister with the Evangelical Free Church of America. Before coming to Valley View Village in April of 2010, he was for 17 years the Senior Pastor of the Evangelical Free Church of Keokuk, Iowa. A graduate of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Chicago area, Craig has completed 35 years in pastoral ministry. His motto is “To be a passionate follower of Christ, and using my gifts of teaching and pastoral care, helping others to be the same.” He is enjoying working with seniors and staff at Valley View Village. Social Services
JoAnne Rothchild
JoAnne has been with Valley View Village for nearly 27 years. She has many years of experience in social services, having worked in long-term care, skilled care, hospital geriatric psychiatric care, home health and assisted living, as well as community and volunteer services. Business Manager
Shelly Barryhill
Shelly came to us with over 25 years of experience in medical business management. Shelly has 12 years of experience with skilled nursing management. Shelly quotes “I love working with the elderly. Assisted Living RN Coordinator
Darla Ueding
Darla has been at Village Assisted Living since it opened in January 2010 when she started as the Housing Manager/RN. Prior to that she worked for Elim Care at Newton Village in Newton, Iowa for 6 years. Darla has over 25 years experience in caring for the elderly and recently received her Associate Degree in Aging Services Management from DMACC. Marketing Director/Assisted Living Housing Manager
Shelly Charter
Shelly has been with Valley View since early 2008. She has over 22 years of experience in marketing and sales and has a passion for Valley View Village and the people who live here. Her current focus is marketing and promoting Village Assisted Living and also overseeing the Independent Living marketing and fundraising efforts for Valley View Village. Activities Director
Dawn Agan
Dawn has been with Valley View for 13 years as the Activity Director. She has been in the Activity Department for 15 years. Dawn started out at Luther Park as the Activities Assistant and made her way to Valley View Village. Dietary Supervisor
Becky Rickabaugh

Environmental Supervisor
Gene Doss
Gene has been with Valley View for 2 years as the Environmental Supervisor. Gene came from Bishop Drumm Retirement Center as the Environmental Services Director for 10 years. He loves to fish with his kids who are Ryan, Deston and Renee. Gene also enjoys moonlighting as a guitar player in a local band. Gene says, “I really love working for Valley View Village and making it the best.
