Meet Elaine, a Pioneer House Celebrity!

One of the Pioneer House residents is a local celebrity. Her story recently appeared in the Clay County Historical Society newspaper, highlighting her experiences growing up. Elaine Baron, worked in her family’s grocery store during the 30’s and early 40’s, before coming to Concordia for college.  She then worked for the telephone company for 33 years and was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Hjemkomst Center for over 25 years.

In addition to an appreciation for her German-Russian cultural heritage, Elaine is a cat enthusiast and cat figurines are featured prominently in her Pioneer House apartment.
