Amenities at Grandma’s House
Grandma’s House Children’s Center provides a number of services that complement the standard high quality daycare services offered. Some of the additional and/or unique services are the following:
Meaningful Curriculum
Grandma’s House has a heavy focus emergent curriculum. The children are involved and invested in their learning, especially as it relates to our “letter of the week” or “number of the week” themes. The teachers are open to using the children’s ideas to better enhance their learning throughout the day.
Multi-age dynamic group times are times the children look forward to each day at Grandma’s House. Group Time is a central part of our day where we teach and review important early childhood learning-skills and concepts in a fun, challenging, and exciting way.
Children who have been in our early learning program for three or more years have been more than ready for kindergarten and seem to be well on their way on the path toward a lifetime love of learning.
Homemade Meals
The kids at Grandma’s House enjoy nutritious home-cooked meals that are prepared in the spacious on-site kitchen. With all the cooking done on-site, Grandma’s House staff members are able to use the everyday life experiences of cooking and eating together to incorporate fun hands-on science and math lessons.
Dynamic Environment
Being in a setting with many older residents provides the children with many opportunities that are unique to this type of multi-generational setting. Besides daily visits and special events with the residents, the children benefit from regular music time with our in-house music therapist.
The children also receive experience and information in dealing with pets with our in-house activities staff. Children also have opportunities to assist and participate in special activities with the residents.
Imagination Station, Little Kid Big City
Children love to pretend and use their imagination in the dramatic play area at Grandma’s House. Whether they end up in their imaginary world as a princess, doctor, policeman, or wherever else their imagination takes them, we have all the costumes, books, and tools that they need to make their world come to reality before their eyes.
With play time being one of the most fun and creative times of the day, their imagination will be sure to take them anywhere they want go, and be anything they want to be!
Spacious Outdoor Areas
Even in the heart of Minneapolis, children enjoy a large play area with plenty of nature, equipment, and toys to get their large-motor muscles moving!
Security
Grandma’s House Children’s Center has its own secured entrance to ensure each child’s safety and well-being.
