This year marks the 75th anniversary of Elim and its mission of caring for aged and infirm people. In 1927 the Board of the Minnesota District Society of The Swedish Evangelical Free Church (later the North Central District Association) purchased the Caley Mansion in Princeton, MN and converted the building into a home for 25 residents of the Princeton community. This new Elim facility was dedicated in August of 1927. The founding members chose the name Elim, meaning "rest after trial," taking it from Exodus 15:27 where the nation of Israel was wandering in the desert: "And they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped near the water."
For 75 years, Elim has striven to be that oasis, providing rest, healing and comfort after life's many trials. And that remains the mission of Elim Care today. The buildings have changed, the rules and regulations have changed, the people have changed and certainly the budget has changed. What has not changed is the core principle on which the organization was founded: Serving those in need in the spirit and example of Christ's love for us. With God's Word and Spirit as our guide, that will remain our mission for the next 75 years and beyond.

In 1927, local church
friends and community members pledged $.10 to $.17 to
help the new Elim Home meet their financial needs. At
that time the $25.00 a month per room rate provided for
the resident's every need. Today the rates have changed but needs have not. We encourage you to help us continue our high standard of healthcare. With a donation of $75.00 you will receive a customized, handpainted ornament depicting the original Elim Home as it was in 1927. Please e-mail or contact Janelle Olson at (952)259-4500 for additional information. Thank you for your continued support of Elim Care, Inc. We look forward to another 75 years of providing quality care serving in the Spirit of Christ's Love. |
